couch_puppy_med.jpgIgnoring flea season can be more than just uncomfortable for you and your pets. It can be dangerous. Our veterinary hospital emphasizes that all pet owners — even owners of indoor pets — must address potential flea infestations. Early prevention is key. Although you many only see a few of these pests, often there are thousands that you don't see.
Flea prevention for dogs and cats is the best defense against infestations. At Fountain City Veterinary Hospital, our veterinarians can show you how to use topical flea medications on your cat or dog. One dosage every month is all it takes to keep fleas and ticks at bay.

Why You Need to Be Concerned about Flea and Tick Season

Why is it so important to control fleas and ticks on your cat or dog? These parasites not only bite you and your animal, but they can cause a wide range of pet health problems, such as dermatitis and tapeworms. Our animal vet clinic in Bryan recommends that pet owners begin using flea medications in early spring, before Ohio's flea and tick season starts. Once established, a flea colony is much harder to eradicate. Monthly applications of flea medicines, such as Frontline and Advantage, kill flea eggs as well as adult fleas.
Our animal hospital staff can show you how you and your pet can be flea-free. We use a number of methods to treat fleas, including preventative medications and treatments to kill existing fleas and eggs. If your pet has fleas, our staff can recommend treatments for killing the fleas and controlling the infestation in your home.

Our veterinarians treat cats and dogs throughout Byran and Northwest Ohio. In addition to helping you control fleas, we offer a full range of pet care services, including teeth cleaning, vaccinations, and pet surgery.
