Dog & Cat Surgery Options
Including ACL Surgery and Luxated Patella Repair
Our veterinary staff is passionate about helping pets feel better. Initially, we provide pets with a thorough veterinary examination, which may include the use of diagnostic tools like dog x-rays or cat x-rays,
an endoscope, gastroscope, broncoscope, colonoscopt or ear endoscope to
determine the source of pain or condition. From the examination, our veterinarian
will decide whether your pet requires surgery or any other veterinary
procedures. At our veterinary clinic in Bryan, we provide ACL surgery, luxated patella repairs, spay/neuter procedures, and many other types of surgery.
Many dogs suffer from a condition where the kneecap (patella)
shifts out of position. This condition is called a luxated patella and
can be very painful for the pet. Without animal surgery, the condition may lead to an even more painful ACL rupture. Our veterinarian can examine your pet and may utilize dog x-rays
or cat x-rays to evaluate the problem. We have extensive experience
with this type of surgery and are willing to explain the surgical
process prior to surgery. In addition to treating luxated patellas, we
also perform ACL su
rgeries
for Bryan pets. A ruptured or torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a
common and painful joint problem that can be treated with surgery. It
can affect young, highly athletic dogs while they are playing and
jumping, or older dogs with weak joints. We have performed more than
1000 ACL repair surgeries here in our animal vet clinic and invite you to come in right away to see our veterinarian if you believe your pet is limping or in pain.
In addition to ACL and luxated patella surgery, we also offer various types of “scope” procedures. One of our scope procedures is an endoscopy, where we use and endoscope, or a flexible fiber optic instrument, that enable us to view an internal body cavity or organ of a pet before and during animal surgery. Both endoscopes and gastroscopes help our veterinarian to internally examine a pet’s stomach to find out if it ingested a foreign object that is causing the pet to be ill. We use a broncoscope inserted down a pet’s throat to remove foreign objects, or to acquire tissues for a biopsy and diagnosis. An ear endoscope can help us perform middle ear examinations and surgeries for pets who suffer chronic ear infections. We can also perform a colonoscopy if we suspect that there are serious problems with your pet’s digestive tract.
Naturally, we perform all of these “scope” procedures while the pet
under anesthesia, to ensure the pet is comfortable and relaxed. While
under anesthesia, pets are continually supervised by one of our licensed
technicians, and a heart monitor. Again, we invite pet owners
throughout the Bryan area to call us at 419-636-5081 if they need to schedule an appointment or ask a question.
